A COUNTRY CALENDAR

Words and Music by Peter Cork
A Country Calendar describes a time so different from the present age that it could be another world. Using words and music Peter Cork evokes the character of the countryside and a more gentle way of life, with scenes ranging from the Cumbrian Lakes to the coastal paths of Cornwall. The songs and films of the time are not forgotten and all the special events of the year are here including seaside trips on the August Bank Holiday, the Battle of Britain in September skies and the magic of a frosty Christmas Eve.

This beautiful recording is enhanced by the great talents of speakers Rosemary Leach, Tim Pigott-Smith and Denis Quilley. Featuring Susan Milan, flute.

THE WARTIME PICNICS

Words and Music by Peter Cork

The Wartime Picnics tells a love story in a poignant world. This 90 minute musical evolves around three picnics on the Kentish Downs during and after WWII. Dramatic, tender and gently funny, the story follows an ordinary family through their highs and lows and the growing love of daughter Grace for a young airman. The clouds of war gather around their happiness, but the message of this remarkable evocation of 1940’s Britain is ultimately optimistic. The composer lives through these times and the music is his testament to them.
